The purpose of this petition is to end the stereotypical labeling the Deaf people as "hearing impaired."
The term, "hearing impaired" practices audism*. It insults and belittles those who have been Deaf since birth or those who lost their hearing during infancy and were raised in the Deaf community.
Culturally Deaf people shall no longer be labeled as "hearing impaired."
