It seems the means and connections that are the privilege of wealth now extend into the courtroom. That crimes of subsistence far outweigh crimes that can affect the lives of millions. Which is worse; stealing $5 for food, or $5 million for your shareholders? It's still stealing. In our hearts I think we know that.
We have many injustices in our history that although morally reprehensible took a revolution of thought to strike from the legal system. Changing the status quo is always difficult, but in this case, which I see as a matter of civil inequality, I say we must.
Corporations do not fear the consequences we should all be subject to. Perhaps, if they did, we could stem this tide of systemic corruption. We are all equal in the eyes of the constitution. The law should reflect that.
