Jobless Economy: As automation replaces high paying jobs, how do we ensure our future is economically fair to all?

Created by C.F. on April 23, 2016

As progress is made in the area of artificial intelligence and automation, jobs are disappearing. Transportation jobs make up most of our high paying jobs. They may well be gone within a decade. I, a mechanical engineer, fear that I will not have a job when I graduate from my masters program. Iterative design can easily optimize and design faster than a human. As Moore's Law has predicted, our computers are improving and they are now displacing our workers in all fields. We need something to be done to ensure our future economy has room for all. I believe we will need a basic income, but I am open to suggestion. Something, however, needs to be done to ensure future generations have the opportunity to be more than slaves.
