As a deal with Syria is brokered over chemical weapons control, an opportunity has arisen to set an example for the world. Instead of being the police, we can be the model to which we hold other nations accountable. To see a change in the world, we must create it in ourselves. Let's turn over our own weapons of mass destruction to international control, and work towards helping other countries peacefully turn over their own.
We are all concerned about the use of Syria's WMDs, and by the possibility of those weapons falling into radical hands, so let's make that impossible. Let's move toward a world without WMDs. We can defend our country without nuclear or chemical weapons, and we can stop proliferation of them without being international hypocrites. We just have to step up.
