WHEREAS we the undersigned recognize the right to petition the government as a fundamental Constitutional right of all Americans, but
WHEREAS the question the legality of a state seceding from the Union was resolved in war over a century ago and is common knowledge to all Americans, and
WHEREAS the petitions on petitions.whitehouse.gov requesting to secede from the Union are therefore frivolous and futile, and
WHEREAS answering them fully would dignify the frivolous request,
WE THE UNDERSIGNED REQUEST that the President promptly respond to all such petitions to secede with the word "no" without further explanation.
