The clear and unambiguous intent of the First Amendment of the United States (full text provided below) is to protect the right of the people peaceably to assemble. This does not include a limitation on where that assembly may occur, or in what manner, so long as it is a peaceful assembly.
In light of the provisions of the First Amendment, please justify the nationwide use of police force to clear people peaceably assembled in various locales under the name “Occupy Wall Street”.
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
