The ACA has been a hot source of confusion and political turmoil for the past few years.
One of the most misunderstood aspects come from the essential benefits required by the new law.
For example the law requires maternity, newborn, and pediatric care for ALL plans.
This seems to be an obvious problem.
For example a male would be paying for newborn care that he would never be able to use since he can't bear children. A childless woman would be paying for pediatric care even though she has no children.
This petition asks for either a clear and agreeable justification for the requirement of these essential benefits, or exemptions for those who do not need the all the coverage. This can be done by means of rerouting funding to allow for more efficient, appropriate, and lower cost plans
