The US Air Force want to "mothball" or retire the A-10 Warthog in favor of the more expensive, unproven F-35. The A-10 follows a legacy of ground support aircraft our Soldiers and Marines need in situations the require close air support. The A-10 has the required speed, endurance, survivability and payload capability the F-35 does not have. The A-10 pilot can work directly with troops on the ground and deliver a variety ordiance more effectively that any other aircraft, especially with the deadly and effective gatling gun. Let's save the taxpayer's money, keep our ground troops alive and accomplish the mission with an aircraft that has yet to be fail in modern day combat.
