Keep Air Traffic Control Collegiate Training Initiative Relevant

The FAA uses a system called the Collegiate Training Initiative to prepare students to become future air traffic controllers. These students may choose to attend a 2 year or 4 year school in order to achieve the level of preparedness set forth by the FAA. They must also take a test known as the Air Traffic Selection and Training exam. They are then ranked as either qualified or well-qualified based on their score. In the past, these students were then placed in to a pool to be selected for open positions. However, a new round of hiring set to take place in February 2014 will completely ignore the system that has been established. Students without a 4 year degree will not be eligible and previous test scores will be disregarded. We ask that the system that has been in use remains the same.
