Even due to the recent advances of the American government to legalize gay marriage, there is no reason to go as far as change our time honored flag. The American flag represents the freedom, liberty, and sacrifice of those who have come before us. To change it due to a court ruling would not only dishonor the memory of all those who have lost their lives and still are defending this great nation but create a disillusioned idea of what our nation stands for. Just because liberties have been granted to those in our society does not mean that we must abandon what we as a nation stand for. This petition means no disrespect to the recent government ruling but hopes to keep respect for what our nation stands for: freedom, liberty and justice for all.
