Keep the ban on police departments receiving surplus military equipment from the Pentagon

During Ferguson, the world viewed American policing style, where it seemed that American citizens were enemies on foreign soil, and the police, an occupying force. The White House intervened, and The Pentagon policy of not destroying surplus weaponry, and giving it to police departments, was banned. This policy is now under review. They are not an occupying army. We are not the enemy. These same officers can't be trusted with handguns, tasers, and pepper spray. They do not need military gear. They're not soldiers in a war zone, they are servants of the community. Until police departments have overhauled their policies, their training, and their hiring procedures, we the people demand that they continue to not have access to weapons of war. Do not lift the ban on police militarization.
