We need to KEEP This STATUE! There is no hatred towards the Japanese.
The young Korean girl in the "Comfort Women" statue sitting next to an empty chair represented nearly 200,000 Korean, Chinese, Filipino and other women who were taken as sex slaves by the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II.
These girls were called Comfort Women.
It is a statue who has given survivors of the sex slaves a place to heal and be acknowledged.
The controversy is with the Japanese who say the Comfort Women were prostitutes voluntarily, while the girls/women who are survivors say they were forced.
Japan apologized in the 1990's.
This is part of the history of the Korean population in Glendale.
