The DEA has announced that as of September 30 the life saving plant Kratom will be a schedule 1 narcotic. Kratom is currently legal in most US states and is the most effective way to combat heroin and opiate addiction. It is no more addictive or harmful than caffeine. It is also used as a natural pain killer and is one of the best alternatives to narcotics. We are currently experiencing one of the worst heroin epidemics in American history. Instead of going after the plants that treat heroin the DEA should devote their time and resources to getting heroin off the streets.
