It is unacceptable that families stay cold for days in the winter due to severe weather and power outages. After Hurricane Sandy and now Winter Storm Nemo/the Blizzard of 2013 in New England, it has become apparent that the methodologies implemented by both the government and the electric companies are ineffective at restoring power and heat.
Families should not be forced to stay cold or find alternative housing on their own due to a natural disaster. The year is 2013 and going without heat and power is UNACCEPTABLE.
In a matter of 4-8 hours, a home's temperature can plummet from a comfortable 65 degrees down to 45 and perhaps more if your home is not well insulated.
