During his campaign in 2008, Barack Obama issued this promise: “When there’s a bill that ends up on my desk as President, you, the public, will have five days to look on-line and find out what’s in it, before I sign it. So that you know what your government’s doing.”
Many viewed this as a promise to make our government more transparent and give citizens a sense of ownership and understanding public policy.
To date, the promise remains unfulfilled and many question why, especially those who voted for Barack Obama on the basis of this promise.
