I take transit every day. Not too long ago, the federal government made a promise to transit agencies that the feds would pay for the capitol projects, but the agency would pay for it's operating budget. The Federal government has since not held it's promise. The stimulus helped, but it should have been much heavier on infrastructure, particularly in Southeastern Pennsylvania where it is needed most. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority's Railroad system was created back in the days of the Pennsylvania & Reading Railroads and those companies didn't manage their assets too well. Now they have a huge backlog of projects they have to fund while parts of their infrastructure get old and substations approach 70 years.
Invest in our nation's systems so SEPTA can expand.
