The milk industry is lobbying the FDA to redefine "milk" to include numerous artificial chemicals, the worst being aspartame. This is an artificial sweetener, used in many diet drinks, that has a very dubious past. The FDA itself has heavily regulated it over the years. I know several people who have very adverse health responses when they consume it. Essentially, they're arguing that kids won't drink "diet milk", so they should be allowed to sneak it in without anyone knowing. They want this new definition to apply to numerous other dairy products as well. The purpose of the FDA is to protect consumers, and make it so they know what's in their food. This goes entirely against that purpose, and consumers have the right to know if they're consuming a questionable chemical compound.
