Currently the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology in Congress is being lead by several members who are openly hostile to a number of fields in science and are purposing new regulations and limits on how the National Science Foundation is allowed to award funding to basic research. While these proposals may sound good on paper we believe they are both harmful and redundant. The NSF already has a process to decide what research gets funding, and American history has shown they have done an amazing job. These proposals will limit what the NSF can do to what politicians deem important, not what scientists, who actually perform the research, need to do to make future discoveries. Stop Congress from destroying scientific research in America with these wasteful regulations.
