The FDA claims that outdoor chickens are a risk! The Cornucopia Institute says despite weak evidence that contact with wild birds is a risk factor for salmonella contamination, the FDA requires organic producers to minimize contact with other birds.
It's proven that caged chickens are living in unfavorable conditions, have more diseases (or more drugs), are more likely to have poor diets and produce less nutritious eggs. Caged birds are often given antibiotics to help them cope with living in these poor environments, which is showing to be detrimental to OUR health.
Tell the FDA to let organic chickens have healthy cage free lives and focus on the ARSENIC levels in regular chickens instead.
