Keep our Beluga Whales Wild

Created by K.P. on April 21, 2016

Stop the importation of wild beluga whales from Russian waters for our entertainment purposes. It is ethically wrong for the U.S. to continue to migrate these mammals from their natural habitat. The region of Okhotsk, Russia has been the only regular source for captivity since 1992. Now the population of beluga whales in that region only have 40% of the whales they once had. Through the Marine Mammal Protection Act, Beluga whales need to be classified as depleted in this region. Please encourage the Obama Administration to support this piece of legislation to protect the Beluga Whale population by classifying the species as depleted and assisting in its preservation to further protect the species population.
