As an American citizen, I am troubled by the prospect of the US becoming militarily involved in the Syrian war, either by establishing a no-fly zone or by arming rebels. The conflict has long since devolved into a sectarian war with both sides willing to commit atrocities. The US government should not enter into a conflict and waste American blood and treasure on a war with no clear path to peace, in a country that is fractured and riven by sectarian hatred, in a region of the world that is in turmoil and openly vilifies us.
Any aid that is sent to Syria should strictly be of a humanitarian nature to help the unfortunate people that are suffering through the violence.
