Keep the passionate in office.

This petition asks to end excessive salaries for individuals holding elected office. This won’t discontinue all salaries, just lowers pay to minimum wage. They will still be compensated for their time and efforts, but they should not be able to use their position in office as their primary source of income. This is to ensure that the people who hold office, are there for a reason: They want to be there, want to make a difference, and they are willing to work towards true solutions. It also will deter individuals from running purely based on their interest in money. This will continue to make new people flow through office, as working for a lower income may not appeal to all people, making sure that those in office are there because they truly want to make a difference.
