I wish to keep the penny and rid of the nickel. The penny has been a trademark for America since the 1780's. There would be many major changes if it were to lose its value. It costs not so much to make a penny now as it does to make a nickel. As of December of 2014, it costs eight cents to make one nickel. Taxpayers are paying for a coin that is slowly losing value and costing a lot more to produce. Also with the nickel ridden of, we would save a lot of money and our debt would go down therefore saving us a lot of headaches. With the penny, if it were to vanish, many charities like Pennies for Peace would also perish along with them.
