President Obama,
While the breaking news of the Army Corps of Engineers denying the proposed route for the Dakota Access Pipeline gives the Standing Rock Sioux hope for the safety of their land, there's still a threat from the next administration. Protect the land of the Sioux by declaring the land a National Monument.
This is an area steeped in heritage and culture, belonging to a people who were here before the United States existed. It's a place of austere, dramatic beauty. Please don't risk the next administration - or future ones - destroying such a place.
We ask that you please protect this land, with all its tradition, stories and history, by declaring it a National Monument before you leave office. Thank you.
