As a retail employee for over 5 years now I have seen the opening times of stores creep earlier and earlier every year moving from 4:00 am Friday morning five years ago to 5:00 pm Thanksgiving night this year. If stores are allowed to continue at this rate, by the next 1-2 years, Thanksgiving will cease to exist. America needs to preserve the one truly American holiday that we still have left and keep our retail corporations from taking the day away from families across the country. Hundreds of thousands of retail employees are forced to work on what used to be dinner time in the American household and something needs to change before the holiday is lost forever.
