The United States government must stay out of marriage. Real marriage equality would be a government that doesn't choose who can or who cannot get married. I propose that the US government
1. Repeal the Defense of Marriage Act. It is unconstitutinal, as it doesn't allow equal rights to every citizen of the US. It defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman as husband and wife.
2. Allow anyone in the United States to have the right to marry anyone they want, weather it be someone of the same sex, or of the opposite sex. Every US citizen deserves equal rights.
3. Stay out of marriage, as it just gives the government more control over certain sexual orientations.
