George Washington, our first president and one of our greatest leaders suggested avoiding foreign entanglements that were not in the vital self-interest of the USA. Although it is sad there is a civil war going on in Syria, and frankly pain and suffering around the globe, the USA cannot effectively solve every crisis. Involvement in Syria might be for admirable goals, such as ending suffering, but we recall what happened in Somalia.
The US needs to focus on the US recovery. Another war (or involvement which unintentionally draws the USA into a war) will drain vital resources the US needs to recover economically. We need to invest in the USA, for without a strong US economy, the whole world will suffer. This petition desires to avoid a slippery slope that leads the US into another war.
