Have you looked at a picture of the map recently for the last presidential election on November 6th, 2012? Did you notice something? Such as the large amounts of Red and the very little Blue?
But what if we were to change the electoral college and take after Maine and Nebraska? If you were to ask me, those two states are the only states that actaully know what they're doing. They give their state the opportunity to split up the electoral votes by region within the state. This way, not all 55 of California's electoral votes would go one way or the other. It would be more fair. And of course the winner of the state would get the two extra electoral votes.
