Keep Wikipedia free and open for all by paying the WikiMedia foundation their running costs

Created by J.F. on September 25, 2013

We The People,
Petition President Obama's Administration to keep Wikipedia free of charge, and open for all!

Wikipedia is currently the #5 top website in the world, serving more than 500 million users. Wikipedia is a great source, and best of all, it's free. Free knowledge!

Unfortunately, every year, WikiMedia Foundations has to hold a fundraiser to keep their services running. If their requirements are not met, they will likely have to lay off staff, cut down on the traffic capability, or even advertise on their website to pay for it. WikiMedia Foundations take no goverment funds whatsoever, running purely on private donations.

We propose that the US Government should cover Wikipedia's running costs, to maintain and expand the great knowledge and capability that the world has!
