Kindly lift the visa number availability requirements for the Green Card application of spouses of permanent residents.

Created by S.D. on June 11, 2014

Permanent residents (GC holder) can't apply for visas for their spouses living abroad - must apply for a GC. While a new visa holder (H1/L1) with very limited checks is allowed to bring his spouse immediately – a legal permanent resident who has gone through years of toil and checks, is not allowed to bring his spouse into USA UNTIL her own GC is approved - which depends on visa numbers being available.

Through executive action, please lift the cap on visa numbers (like it is for citizens) for applications by permanent residents. The uncertain wait of separation not only tears apart families but compels them from postponing decisions such as buying of houses etc. (impacting the economy as well). This provision is already part of the immigration reform bill - which will likely never pass.
