We petition President Obama to kindly request that the media refrain from publishing the names of mass shooters unless they are at-large, so that they cannot become famous for their crimes. Mass shootings have become sadly commonplace. Most end in the suicide of the shooter. In the past suicides took only one life, but now narcissistic sociopaths can become famous by taking as many innocent lives with them as possible. Most media outlets already refrain from publishing the names of rape victims, so the practice is not unprecedented. We also petition President Obama to ask Americans to make an effort the remember the names of the victims but not the shooters.
