Kiribati located in the South Pacific is a collection of islands spanning over a distance the width of the United States, with just above 100,000 people the island population is that of my suburban Dallas town. The people of Kiribati see the effects of climate change every day, their shores grow smaller and smaller every year and the inhabitants have to flee the growing tide so that they aren't washed away. This nation needs help now more than ever, U.S financial aid finds its way into many nations but Kiribati needs it urgently. Possibly the United States could donate money and encourage the construction of levies, which would work a lot like they do in New Orleans. Kiribati's sun might set if we don't take action now.
