Know Voting Rights Matter: Work with Congress to Restore the Power of Pre-clearance and Justice to the Voting Rights Act

The Voting Rights Act of 1965 has been a catalyst for equality and a stalwart for millions of Americans to exercise their civic qualification to vote. However, in recent years, the Voting Rights Act has been dismembered of a key component. That is Section 4b. While we are aware that our country has evolved beyond many of the social conditions that made it necessary for the Voting Rights Act to come into being, I am sure that you will agree with us that many social realities remain which inhibits some Americans right to vote. Some of these barriers to voting are blatant, while others are subtle; yet, they all place challenges to qualified Americans being able to fully exercise their right to vote. Remember Selma and say,"Never Again will citizens die to have the right to vote in America.”
