We request the FDA petition or require businesses to add a labeling system to boxed or packaged food products which clearly indicated the number of teaspoons of total sugar (read as net carbohydrates) in a product. Simply put, the WHO (World Health Organization) guidelines recommend a daily sugar intake of 6 teaspoons or fewer daily for an average adult, fewer for children. This we believe would be a healthy start to open the eyes of consumers in this country. This is not a call for additional taxation, but to simply provide a better format to information consumers may already have but are not aware of existing on packages.
