Lane splitting should become legal in all 50 states. California is the only state in the US that allows lane splitting. If a motorcyclist if in traffic on the interstate, or even a normal 2 lane road, he/she is taking up space as a "full sized vehicle" and is vulnerable to being rear-ended by a driver who isn't paying attention. If lane splitting is legal he/she not only creates another spot for an actual "full sized vehicle" reducing the traffic congestion slightly, but still reduced, it also allows to motorcyclist to move through congested traffic in a safer manor, both for the rider and the other vehicles around him/her. These are a few of many reasons on why lane splitting should be legal in all 50 states and not just California.
