We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Later School Start Times

Created by L.C. on June 06, 2016

As a mom of twins I am concerned about early school start times especially at middle school and high school. Currently the elementary school that my children attend has a start time of 9 AM which allows for them to get proper rest. However, the middle school and high school that they will eventually be attending have start times of 7:30 AM and 7:45 AM respectively which I do not believe will allow them sufficient sleep.

The CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Sleep Foundation, and the National Education Association all call for later start times.

I urge the Administration to enact legislation which mandates later school start times based on guidelines from CDC, etc.

Sincerely,
Lisa Cooper
