On July 18, 2015, while being detained by the Southaven PD in MS, excessive force was used to restrain Troy Goode. Independent autopsy results show that Goode's death was a result of cardiac arrhythmia, caused by being hog tied, face down for more than an hour.
This position restricted air flow to his lungs causing his heart rate to increase to tachycardia in an attempt to pump oxygen to his blood. He was in this deadly position from the time of arrest, during transport to the hospital, and for another 30-45 minutes while he awaited care.
Goode was not removed from this position until he coded at the hospital and resuscitation was attempted. Two police officers were in the room with Goode when he coded.
Goode, his widow & infant son deserve a full investigation into his tragic death.
