Lead don't follow at COP21

Created by E.F. on December 11, 2015

Before the COP21 Conference is out announce that the US will match the recently made commitment by Canada and make it legally binding. As a nation we should be competing to lead on global climate change, not trying to follow.

Canada’s national commitment as described by Trudeau is the goal of a maximum temperature rise of 1.5C. This places them in the lead, and it means that they are willing to make the hard economic choices, such as phasing out lucrative tar sands oil production to protect the world's population and environment. Imagine if as President you were to propose a national response to this problem that required a national ban on fracking.

Carter was the last president to boldly approach national energy consumption. Please seize this historic moment to build on that legacy.
