The Constitution does not give the Federal Government the power to control what a consenting adult decides to consume. Prohibition only creates an underground market run by thugs. Prohibition does not completely stop the availability of the drugs, it just raises the price because of the limited supply. If the prohibition was dropped, the underground market would collapse and the thugs would be out of a very lucrative business. Without the prohibition, legitimate companies would start producing the drugs under proper quality control which would result in less injuries and deaths. Most people who do not use drugs under prohibition will not start using them just because the prohibition is lifted. The billions of dollars wasted on prohibition can be put to better usage.
