In order to ensure that our Federal government is truly representative of the people that it governs, participation in all Federal elections should be compulsory.
The millions of Americans who have become so disillusioned with the political process or were never properly educated in the importance of their role in it, and consequently do no exercise their right to vote, have become a completely unrepresented underclass in American society.
The only way to re-enfranchise the non-voters and achieve a government that is truly representative of the people is to require every American with the right to vote to exercise it.
