The r-word, once describing people with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities, has become a derogatory term because people are not aware of how offensive that word is. This petition will help to not only eliminate this derogatory term but to also promote acceptance of people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Best Buddies, founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, promotes this campaign more and more everyday and it could be even more successful if the Obama Administration stepped up and encouraged others to do the same, and stop the hate.
