We have been genetically modifying organisms for thousands of years by selective breeding and hybridization. Through technology, we have merely found our way to the basis of genetics, and developed the ability to manipulate things at the lowest level.
Our population growth requires improvements in crop yield and quality, which genetic modification can provide. We can discover, through science, what is safe and prudent. Fear mongering has no place in the discussion.
