According to Department of Justice statistics and reports, 97% of all gun violence is perpetuated by gang members and/or drug dealers (DOJ, 2008). Rather than take the guns from the hands of responsible gun owners who undergo background checks and obey laws, these drug dealers and gang members should be targeted to have their firearms removed and they should be convicted of crimes that they have committed.
