Lee Bo, the shareholder of a bookstore in Causeway Bay, was missing in Hong Kong after Christmas

Created by A.C. on January 05, 2016

Lee Bo, 65, a majority shareholder in a bookstore which specialises in books critical of the Chinese Communist Party, vanished after Dec 30, 2015. He is a British citizen, confirmed by the UK’s Foreign Office. Before this, there have already been 4 staffs or owners missing.
His wife, Sophie Choi, received a call which the number was from Shenzhen. During conversation, Lee said he will not be coming back anytime soon and he is assisting an investigation. However, there was no record of him leaving Hong Kong.
This has sparked concerns that Chinese law-enforcement agencies had entered Hong Kong to take him into custody and bring him to mainland China. Hong Kong is part of China but under the principle of “one country, two systems” it maintains its own legal, political and economic systems.
