The war on drugs has been a failing war since it was created. Currently the United States is funding millions of dollars to fight this war, from agents, to court cost, and cost of incarceration. What the government should do is legalize all drugs. The government starts to buy drugs and supply drugs using state stores. These state stores at first will bottom out the prices of the drugs. By selling drugs at far less than the street value, they will ultimately crush the criminal syndicates currently selling the drugs. After a set period of time the government gradually increases the prices thus creating a revenue for the government, such as "sin tax."
People will do drugs regardless, why not have the government profit and reduce our debt by reducing those in jail and court cost.
