We all know that drugs are bad for you, but because we live in a free society, shouldn't we be allowed to do whatever we want with are bodies? It is not the government's business to decide what we can and can't do to ourselves. So long as drug users don't harm anyone else or put others in danger, they shouldn't be arrested and thrown in jail.
In addition, legalizing all drugs, including the hardcore ones like heroin and meth, would put an end to drug cartels and the black market. Inner city violence that results from black markets would end and many nonviolent offenders would be released from our overcrowding prisons, saving tax payers millions.
