While the disbanding of Don't Ask Don't Tell is a great start, there is still a significant gap in regard to unequal rights the community still deals with. The establishment of the same legal commitment that straight Americans enjoy would also be helpful within LGBT households. This would help a number of LGBT and their families enjoy additional benefits getting them that much further and stable in life.
