Legalize and Regulate Marijuana in a Manner Similar to Alcohol

Created by S.B. on October 30, 2011

Our response to "What We Have to Say About Legalizing Marijuana" By: Gil Kerlikowske. The key word on most of the petitions on marijuana, is "regulation". If you abuse cigarettes, alcohol, or any drug- you will have negative results. All research you have provided has focused on heavy users/abusers & not shown marijuana to be any more negative than other currently legal & regulated drugs if used casually/responsibly by adults. Contrarily, most research has shown positive results if used properly. Regulating marijuana includes putting an age requirement on it, as well as determining the max potency allowable for selling and "directions for use". This will negate just about all of the reasons you provided for not legalizing. Again, explain why cannabis shouldn't be legal for grown adults.
