The prohibition of cannabis, just like the prohibition of alcohol, is simply not working. Marijuana is used by more and more people every year, and yet it has never been linked to one death. A UCLA study found no link between smoking cannabis and cancer. Economists have predicted billions of dollars in government revenue simply from taxing a legal cannabis product and selling industrial hemp, not to mention the amount saved from no longer prosecuting and imprisoning these men, women, and children. Instead of locking up pot smokers with hardened criminals, it's high time we recognize that this is an unsustainable solution. Stop imprisoning people for pot. President Obama "inhaled frequently." If he had been caught as a kid, he might be in jail today. Does that seem fair?
