Since there have been absolutely no related deaths to marijuana, yet have been millions related to smoking cigarettes and drinking liquor, what is the justification of its ban for people that need/desire it? Cannabis is known to treat cancer issues, AIDs, glaucoma, muscular dystrophy, pain management, neuropathy, cataracts, headache, migraine, depression, anxiety and more. With careful legislation, there is no reason that this simple plant should be left to dangerous drug cartels to distribute. I am a young man, and I've never tried it, but I do not have the systematic right to tell others they can't because "it smells bad" or "they'll become pot heads". What people ingest in their bodies is entirely up to them, not the government. Legislate it just like you would alcohol. Nationwide.
